The Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation is partnering with Canvaas Consulting to reach Black/African American young men and teens struggling with their mental health, and to help start the conversation about preventing suicide. Life is Better With You Here aims to share helpful resources and stories at WithYouHere.org. The campaign also encourages people to check on peers who might be struggling.

Life is Better With You Here was created in response to national data from the Journal of the American Medical Association that indicated a 73% increase suicide attempts among Black/African American adolescents between 1991 and 2017. As of 2018, suicide became the second leading cause of death in Black/African American children from ages 10 to 14, and the third leading cause of death in Black/African American adolescents from ages 15 to 19, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

To promote the important messages of this campaign, the Cuyahoga County Suicide Prevention Coalition has localized the campaign materials, which is shared on social media, radio, television, digital and print ads, billboards, and bus ads.
