Graduate students earn Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Research Awards

Case Western Reserve University’s Graduate Student Council offered its first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Research Award to five students, awarding $4,000 over two award cycles.

These awards provide funding to CWRU master’s and doctoral students who are conducting research with marginalized populations. The award winner’s research will address critical gaps across disciplines in the research and application of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Psychological Sciences awardees and the projects were:

  • Elisa Borrero—“The Role of Intergenerational Acculturative Gaps in Latinx Adolescents’ Internalizing Symptomatology”
  • Alexandra Piedra—“The Development of an Affirming Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for LGBTQIA+ Adolescents”

Erica Johnson, the Graduate Student Council’s director of diversity, equity and inclusion, led this initiative.
