Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship
Annual stipend: $24,000 for three years, an invitation to attend the Conference of Ford Fellows, Access to Ford Fellow Regional Liaisons, a network of former Ford Fellows who have volunteered to provide mentoring and support to current Fellows, and access to other networking resources.

“Predoctoral fellowships will be awarded in a national competition administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on behalf of the Ford Foundation. The awards will be made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.”

GEM Fellowship Programs – The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science
Graduate fellowships are available at the MS and Ph.D. levels coupled with paid summer internships.

IHS Scholarship Program

The scholarship program provides financial support in exchange for a minimum two-year service commitment within an Indian health program in your chosen health professional discipline.

Minority Scholarships, Fellowships and Postdoctoral Awards in Medicine, Health and Related Fields

NASP-ERT Minority Scholarship Program
The Program annually awards scholarships of $5,000 each to selected scholars. In the past 1-6 awards/year have been gifted.

“The NASP-ERT Minority Scholarship Program was established in 1995 to support the graduate training of minority students pursuing careers in school psychology. The program seeks to lower financial barriers to training and to highlight the accomplishments of promising future professionals. The Program advances NASP’s commitment to diversity in the field of school psychology by supporting culturally diverse graduate students who will eventually provide school-based services to diverse student populations.

Upon receipt of the award, the program works to mentor and encourage each scholar as he or she progresses from graduate student to practicing school psychologist.”

Deborah Partridge Wolfe International Fellowship
“The American Psychological Association, on behalf of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, invites applications for the Deborah Partridge Wolfe international fellowship. This supports African American women graduate students studying abroad, or graduate foreign students studying within the US.”

“Applicants must be US African American women students interested in pursuing graduate study abroad, or foreign students interested in studying in the US.”

Psychological Science Research Grant
“Funds for this $1,000 grant must be used to support direct costs related to the proposed research (e.g., participant payment, software purchases). This grant may be used for thesis, dissertation or other research.

Beyond the $9,000 we have allocated for this program, up to three additional grants for $1,000 will be awarded for innovative psychological science research projects specifically related to diversity.”

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
The purpose of the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields.

Ungerleider/Zimbardo Travel Scholarships
Seven annual $300 scholarships for graduate students will be awarded to support travel to the APA convention.

J. Frank Yates Student Travel Award
The Psychonomic Society annually gives J. Frank Yates Student Travel Awards for graduate student members of the Society who are in underrepresented populations, including those who are disadvantaged or discriminated against in some way.

  • Up to six recipients receive:
    • Competitive Travel Award ($1,000 USD)
    • A ribbon which is placed on their poster during their poster session at the Annual Meeting
    • A special notation in the Abstract Book indicating the honor
    • Honor that can be listed on the student’s vita
    • An invitation to attend the Diversity & Inclusion Reception at the Annual Meeting

AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research
The American Educational Research Association (AERA) announces its 2020-2021 AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research competition for graduate students. This fellowship is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders). This program provides mentoring and funding support to develop research skills and conduct studies in education related fields and topics.
