Our Neighbors

Our nearest suburban neighbor, Cleveland Heights boasts beautiful homes, excellent student housing options, great food, and 135 acres of park land.

Coventry Village offers an eclectic assortment of stores, restaurants, and coffee shops. It’s a favorite place for students to hang-out.

Shaker Heights is a thriving community noted for its Georgian style architecture, sidewalk cafes, and unique gift shops. $5 Monday Movie Nights at Shaker Cinemas and Cedar-Lee Theaters. Check out the Shaker Square for outdoor concerts in the summer!

Nestled right behind the School of Medicine, Little Italy has been home to Cleveland’s thriving Italian-American population since the 1920’s. It is also home to many quaint restaurants, bakeries and over 30 galleries.

Museums

Home to more than 46,000 works of art, the Cleveland Museum of Art is famous for its breadth and quality of its collections and exhibitions. Collections range from ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, to contemporary and modern art.The recently renovated art research library is the 3rd largest in the United States, and contains 401, 918 volumes.

From the earth to the sky, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History provides a place to explore the natural world. Feel the rumbling of an earthquake or view dinosaur and other prehistoric creature galleries, gemstones collections, or the planetarium. Visit the new addition of the HealthSpace Cleveland Museum!

Through extensive use of 400 interactive, hands-on exhibits and demonstrations about science phenomena, environment and technology, the Great Lakes Science Center is dedicated to stimulating interest and increasing understanding of the sciences, with a particular emphasis on the interdependence of scientific, environmental and technological activities in the Great Lakes region. The Museum is also home to the region’s only OMNIMAX theater.

The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage joins an elite group of world-class institutions as a living testament to the courage and achievements of Cleveland’s Jewish community. Stories of individuals and families come to life through exhibitions, interactives and films, oral histories, photographs and artifacts. Exhibits, such as The Temple-Tifereth Israel Gallery, are recognized with both national and international acclaim.

The spectacular I.M. Pei-designed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is on the lakefront in downtown Cleveland, approximately four miles from the Case campus. From exhibits featuring John Lennon to Willie Nelson to Janis Joplin to Jim Morrison, this is an attraction not to be missed!

 

Nature

Encased in a magnificent glass house, the Cleveland Botanical Garden is an educational institution that encourages from all walks of life at every age to surround themselves with the natural wonders of earth through their outdoor gardens and conservatory. Visit the Garden Cafe for a relaxing lunch on the Geis Terrace!

The sixteen reservations of Cleveland Metroparks consist of over 21,000 acres of various landscapes and attractions for visitors to enjoy. The Park District is commonly referred to as the “Emerald Necklace” because the reservations encircle the city of Cleveland. Come enjoy the picnic areas, shelterhouses, wildlife areas, waterfowl areas, overlooks, all purpose tails, and outdoor education facilities!

Whether you are interested in animals that walk, run, fly, hop, swim or slither, you are sure to find it at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest. The Rainforest is the largest rainforest exhibit in the country, including more than 600 animals and 10,000 plants from Africa, Asia and South America.

The Holden Arboretum is one of the largest arboretums and botanical gardens in the United States, with over 3,500 acres, 600 acres are devoted to collections and gardens and 20 miles are designated hiking trails. Diverse natural areas and ecologically sensitive habitats make up the rest of the holdings. The Arboretum’s collection includes 9,400 different kinds of woody plants, representing 79 plant families.

 

Entertainment

Cedar Point boasts an unheard of 17 roller coasters (more than any other park in the world)! With a lineup that includes three of the top 10 steel roller coasters in the world, Cedar Point is a coaster lover’s dream come true.

The best place to experience the energy of classical music! The Cleveland Institute of Music is a leading international conservatory. Many graduates hold distinguished chairs at the Cleveland Orchestra. Recitals and concerts–open to the public–by advanced students and faculty.

Located in downtown Cleveland, Playhouse Square is the largest theater district outside of New York City’s Lincoln Center. Built in the 1920s, Cleveland’s Playhouse Square was revived through a grass-roots effort and is now home to the Allen, Hanna, Kennedy’s, Ohio, Palace, State and 14th Street theaters. From major traveling Broadway shows to the smallest specialty artists, great entertainment can be found here all year round, with restaurants of all sizes in the surrounding neighborhoods providing food and drink for theater-goers.
